GS Tak (President, The Korea Arts Critics Association)

GS Tak is a distinguished leading arts critic in Korea, with over 40 years of active involvement in the field. Although he majored in vocal music in college, he has established himself as both a prolific critic and scriptwriter. He has written librettos and lyrics for four operas and nine cantatas, and his works continue to be performed regularly in Korea and other countries such as Spain, Australia, and Canada. In 2012, he founded the "K-Classic" Organizing Committee, which is at the forefront of the new Korean wave that has emerged alongside the K-Pop culture and its artists such as BTS. Since its inception, the "K-Classic" Committee has appointed 100 conductors from 37 countries around the world as honorary directors and he attended over 3,000 performances, and written hundreds of columns and concert reviews. Additionally, Tak publishes K-Classic News (kclassicnews.com), an online newspaper, and serves as an artistic advisor to several cultural organizations on cultural policy and the direction of classical music.
