2032년 올림픽 개최지 확정 발표 후 축제 분위기에 떠들썩하던 호주 브리즈번은 그 후 며칠 지나지 않아 코로나 19로 인해 현재 Lockdown에 들어갔다. 코로나 기간에도 계속 연주활동이 이어졌던 QPAC(Queensland Performing Arts Centre)마저도 적막감이 흐른다.
2017년 9월 2일 K-classic이 이곳 브리즈번 퀸즈랜드 퍼포밍아트센터(Queensland Performing Arts Centre) 임준희 작곡, 탁계석 대본의 ‘송 오브 아리랑(Song of Arirang)’을 공연했다. 현지 동포 오케스트라인 퀸즈랜드 코리안 오케스트라와 합창단이 참가하는 창단 10주년을 기념한 콘서트였다.
공연 후 한국합창 창작곡들에 대한 많은 인식을 바꾸어놓았다. 항상 들어오던 음악들이 아닌 시대에 맞추어 발전하고 진화하며 함께 숨 쉬는 음악의 힘을 맛보았다.
호주인들은 한국의 부지런함과 빨리빨리 문화와는 다르게 무슨 일을 하든지 시간을 두고 천천히 진행한다. 2032년 올림픽 앞으로 11년이라는 기간이 남았으나 이들에게 큰 행사를 준비한다는 것은 많은 시간을 필요로 하기 때문에 2032년이 그리 긴 시간이 남았다고들 생각지 않는다. 이런 차근차근히 움직이는 호주인들의 특성을 고려하여 느린 듯 보이지만 꾸준히 계속하여 K-Classic은 움직이고 있다.
이미 호주에서 K-Classic이 공연되었고 그래서 이미 불씨는 붙여졌다. 꾸준히 하우스콘서트를 진행하며 호주 음악인들을 초청하여 서양음악과 함께 한국음악을 함께 즐기며 연주하고 감상할 수 있는 연주 자리는 계속되고 있다.
가랑비에 옷 젖듯 K-Classic은 조용하지만 강력히 이곳 호주에서도 뿌리내리고 있다. K-Classic을 통해 창작의 아름다움과 한국을 모태로 하는 오페라, 관현악, 합창들이 더 아름답게 피어나 대한민국을 세계 문화의 중심지로 우리 음악을 이곳 호주인들 모두가 함께 즐기는 그날을 기대한다.
Brisbane, Australia, which had been in a festive mood since the announcement of the 2032 Olympics, has now brought silence due to lockdown. Even the QPAC (Queensland Performing Arts Centre) which continued to perform during the coronavirus period, is also in silence.
On 2nd of September 2017, K-classic performed a Song called “Song of Arirang” composed by Lim Joon-hee and scripted by Tak Gye-seok at QPAC in Brisbane. It was a concert to celebrate the 10th anniversary of foundation of the Korean Orchestra, a local Korean orchestra, and the choir. After the performance, it changed people's perception on the Korean classical music. It was a time for the Australians and people with different cultures living here to experience the power of Korean music that develops, evolves and breathes together in accordance with the times, not the traditional music that always came in.
Australians tend to take enough time to progress on whatever they do, unlike the Korean rushing but diligence culture. There are 11 years left before the 2032 Olympics, but it is not said that 2032 is a long time away because preparing for a big event requires a lot of time. Considering the characteristics of Australians moving very carefully and slowly, K-Classic continues to move steadily.
K-Classic has already been performed in Australia and embers have already been lit. The venue is continued to be where Australian musicians can be invited to perform and enjoy Korean music with Western music while continuing to hold ‘The House concert’.
K-Classic is quietly but strongly rooted here in Australia. Through K-Classic, opera, orchestral music, and chorus, which are based on the beauty of creativity and Korea, bloom more beautifully, and we look forward to the day when all Australians who live here enjoy our music as the centre of world culture.
