conductor and cellist, Michelangelo Galeati is currently professor at Conservatorio di Musica Santa Cecilia Roma, Italy, where he is also member of the International Commission. Michelangelo Galeati studied composition and conducting with Piero Bellugi, Donato Renzetti and Dario Lucantoni and cello with Rocco Filippini and Amedeo Baldovino. He graduated in S. Cecilia Conservatory of Music Roma, and in the prestigious Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. His studies include also
Musicology and History of music in which he graduated in University of Bologna
and in University of Tor Vergata Roma.
After a long experience as cellist in chamber music and orchestra, Michelangelo Galeati switched to conducting in 2004, bringing his huge experience in strings and orchestra repertoire. After an intensive training in Conducting at Bachelor and Master level, at the moment he is full time conductor both in Symphonic and Opera productions. He began an active conductor’s carrier, leading several official State Orchestras in Italy such as Orchestra “Arturo Toscanini” in Parma, Orchestra Sinfonica Aquila, Orchestra “Tito Schipa” Lecce, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, Orchestra del Teatro Cilea of Reggio Calabria, Orchestra Teatro Carlo Felice Genova, Mitlleeuropea Orchestra. He is regularly invited in Germany (Trier Theatre Orchestra and Berliner Symphonikern Orchestra) where he has been conducting again in 2018 for the 4th time in the prestigious Philharmonie Berlin.
He also leads big Opera projects involving young musicians and soloists. In the last years Michelangelo Galeati conducted in Porto Portugal ESMAE Theatre Gaetano Donizetti Alina la Regina di Golconda in a special edition from the manuscript of the composer, J. Brahms and L. V. Beethoven Symphonies, in Malta Gozo Theatre W.

Since 2014 he has been for three long tourneè in China (more than 30 concerts) cooperating as condutor with Maestro Lior Shambadal. Among the latest performances as conductor, Dubai Emirates special Gala evening Madinat Theatre, Roma Sala Sinopoli Parco della Musica with B. Britten’s The young person's guide to the orchestra, Ravello Festival with Ramin Bahrami and the flautist Massimo Mercelli and a Italian Film music Gala with Zagreb Croatia TV and Radio National Orchestra. Recently, in cooperation with the Local Education Authorities in Napoli, he conducted Boheme and Traviata in concert form for 24 performances in Sala Scarlatti with San Pietro a Majella Orchestra. He is also assistant conductor of world known M. Lior Shambadal, with whom he shares artistic and didactic activities.
In 2017 he has been appointed artistic director of the voice project Opera in German language, supported by SIAE, the national copyright Society, a project in cooperation with Paulina Abber and Lior Shabadal him self. He is also responsible for “Bella Musica EU Youth Orchestra” a jointed project Mozarteum Salzburg and Roma Santa Cecilia Music Conservatory. In the framework of this initiative, he is teaching in an exchange program in Universitaet Mozarteum Salzburg. In June 2018 he has been appointed member of the jury of the final examination in cello in Corsi di perfezionamento of Accademia di Santa Cecilia with Giovanni Sollima.
In January 2018 he performed a special edition of Brundibar oera (written by H. Krasa in the concentration camp of Auschwitz) with the Philharmonic Orchestra in Zagreb and with the special participation of Kolinda Kitarovic, President of the Croatia Republic and of the holocaust survivor Branko Lustig. He recently appeared as conductor in an acclaimed concert Berlin’s Philharmonie with Berliner Symphoniker Orchestra (May 2018) performing music by Zemlinsky, Hiller, Mendelssohn and Goldmark.
He is actually condutor and project leader of the Creative EU project “Opera out of Opera” with performances in Athens, Salzburg, Pamplona and Roma and music by Rossini, Verdi, Bizet, Puccini and Mozart. In 2019 Michelangelo Galeati has been awarded the Paul Harris Fellow recognition by the Rotary International Foundation. In the same year he conducted in Harpa Music Centre in Rekiajvik, Iceland 2 special concerts dedicated to Puccini and Berio. Recently, he coordinated the first performance in Italy of the opera Die helige Caecilia by Anton Urspruch and conducted R. Wagner Tristan Prelude and Liebestod and P.I. Tchikovski Symphonie n.6 “Pathetique” in Theatre Elena Sa
Costa in Porto.
He has recorded rarities for Musicalia and Musikstrasse (3 CD with Polimnia Ensemble group on Italian opera music), recording also premiere by contemporary composers such as Clementi, Bussotti, Colasanti, Berio and Pennisi.
