[Invitation] Sandra Bárbara Cepero, Cuba

Sandra Bárbara Cepero Álvarez is original from Matanzas (Cuba). She began her musical studies at five years old. At ten years old she began School of Arts, where studied Piano, Singing Coral and Coral Conductor. At 15 years old she began in The Profesional School of Music. She studied her degree in music; (Orchestra Conducting), in The Superior Institute of Arts. (Cuba); under The tutelage of Guido López Gavilán and Enrique Pérez Mesa. After this, She won an scholarship to study a postgraduate in (Zaragoza.Spain).

 

She received class from maestro Lanfranco Marcelletti during one year.She has received masterclass from great Conductors like: Juan la Magna (Francia), Felipe Aguirre (Colombia/Spain), Francesco Belli (Italia), Ronald Zollman (Belgium), Benjamín Zander (United States), Elena Herrera (Cuba), Kenneth Kiesler (United States), Valery Gergiev (Russia), Lior Shambadal (Israel), Collin Meters (Inglaterra) and others. She has conducted in Czech Republic, Spain, Cuba, México, Germany, United States, Uruguay, Argentina, Venezuela. She conducted in Cuba The National Symphony Orchestra, The Camera Orchestra [Nuestro tiempo], Symphony of Camagüey, Santa Clara, Matanzas, Holguín, Symphony Orchestra of Havana (Liceum Mozarteum), Symphony Orchestra of Conservatory Amadeo Roldán, Symphony Orchestra of  ISA and ENA. In Mexico She has conducted The Symphony Orchestra of Hidalgo-Pachuca, The Symphony Orchestra Carlos Chávez, Chiapas Symphony, Symphony Orchestra of Oaxaca, Philarmonic of Puebla, many Youth Orchestras, The Symphony Orchestra ISMEV in Xalapa-Veracruz, The Symphony Orchestra OSBUAP, together with The Opera's Chorus. She has conducted The Berlin Sinfonietta (Germany), Montevideo Philharmonic (Uruguay), Symphony Orchestra OSSODRE(Montevideo), Symphony Orchestra of Portland-Maine (United States), Symphony of Olomouc (Czech Republic), Symphony Orchestra of Louisiana University, Symphony Orchestra of San Diego State University, others Orchestras in Spain, Venezuela, Brasil. She has participated like active student in many important masterclasses around the World, in many opportunities winning scholarship for them. 

 

She and conducted for many years The Youth Orchestra in Puebla. She is the tenured professor of Orchestra Conducting, at the University of Puebla. She has been invited to teach Orchestra Conducting Masterclasses in differents countries such as: Colombia, México, Cuba, United State, Spain, Uruguay, Italy, and others. In 2018 She was awarded with Alondra de la Parra and Montblanc Scholarship to study with The great maestro Kenneth Kiesler in United States. She also won The [Marca País] scholarship 2017. She participated in two times in The Retreat at Medomak. She was invited to attend in Summer 2018 to Spain for The International Cumbre for Conductors, Huelva. Spain.

 

 

She was invited to be part of Second Symposium internacional of Woman’s Conductors. She was a finalist in The International Competition for Conductors in Paraguay with The National Symphony. She was the winner of The First prize in The Conducting Competition (Musicalia). She won an scholarship to go to United States. She was recently selected to be part of the prestigious professorship Eduardo Mata orchestral conductor of UNAM. She was also selected to participate in the second round of World Music Competition for Conductors in Lausanne. She was selected like one of The 6 Conductors for The Course in argentina with Maestro: Enrique Diemecke. It will be in The Colon Theater with National Symphony. She was also selected like one of The 10 professional Conductors for a Basel Pasantía in Switzerland. She is currently developing very actively in the world of orchestra Conducting.

 

She is currently in the position of associate conductor of the State Symphony Orchestra from Puebla. Mexico; and frequent guest conductor at the Buap Symphony Orchestra, Puebla. Won the National Award in the Wiener World Music Competition for conductors in June 2020. She has been selected to participate in the Lonel Perlea Orchestra Conductor Competition in Romania and also to participate in the Conductors competition in Augsburg (Germany).
