Prof. Dr. João Batista Sartor é Professor Associado de Música e flauta da UFSM, Diretor Artístico e Maestro da Orquestra Sinfônica de Santa Maria (UFSM). Foi coordenador e regente da Banda Sinfônica da UFSM. Atua nas áreas de Performance e Pedagogia da Música e da flauta. É Doutor em Música (2016), Práticas Interpretativas, pela UNIRIO, com orientação do Dr. Sérgio Barrenechea, e a coorientação do Dr. Jorge Correia (bolsista CAPES, Universidade de Aveiro, Portugal,
2015). Sua tese apresenta a Performance da Pedagogia da flauta nos PPGs em Música do Brasil. Foi flautista da OSPA (1990-2005) e Orquestra Unisinos (2005). Estudou flauta na ÉcoleNormale de Musique Alfred Cortot de Paris (2002) com PatriciaNagle, e com Marzio Conti em Lucca (Itália, 1999). Se formou em Mestrado em Artes (Flauta, 1998, bolsa Vitae) pela The Universityof Iowa, EUA, com a orientação do Dr. Tadeu Coelho. Começou seus estudos na Fundarte (1974).
Concluiu o Bacharelado em Flauta (1990) na UFRGS, com orientação do Dr. Hans Hess. Lecionou na Fundarte, Ospa, Unisinos, EST-Sinodal e UFRGS. Tem atuado como convidado nas orquestras Theatro São Pedro e Sesi-Fundarte, e participou de inúmeros recitais, no Brasil, Uruguai, Argentina, EUA, França, Portugal e Itália. Atuou como solista nestas orquestras citadas. Desenvolve turnês com o projeto Alma Única (música de câmara e dança) e apresentações de música popular.
Dr. João Batista Sartor is an Associate Professor of Music and Flute at UFSM (Federal University of Santa Maria-RS-Brazil), Artistic Director and conductor of the Santa Maria Symphonic Orchestra (UFSM). He was coordinator and conductor of the Symphonic Band at UFSM. He works in the areas of Performance and Pedagogy of Music and the flute. He holds a Doctor in Music (2016), Performance Practices, by UNIRIO (RJ-Brazil), under the guidance of Dr. Sérgio Barrenechea, and the co-supervision of Dr. Jorge Correia (CAPES fellow, University of Aveiro, Portugal,
2015). His thesis presents the Performance of Pedagogy of the flute in the PPGs in Music of Brazil. He was a flutist at OSPA (Porto Alegre Symphonic Orchestra, 1990-2005) and Orquestra Unisinos (2005). He studied flute at the ÉcoleNormale de Musique Alfred Cortot de Paris (2002) with Professor PatriciaNagle; and with Maestro Marzio Conti, in Lucca (Italy, 1999). He graduated in Master of Arts (Flute, 1998, Vitae scholarship) from The University of Iowa, USA, under the guidance of Dr. Tadeu Coelho. He started his studies at Fundarte (1974).
He completed his BA in Flute (1990) at UFRGS, under the guidance of Dr. Hans Hess. He taught at Fundarte, Ospa, Unisinos, EST-Sinodal and UFRGS, in Brazil. He has been a guest flutist at Theatro São Pedro and Sesi-Fundarte orchestras (Brazil), and has participated in numerous recitals in Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, USA, France, Portugal and Italy. He also has been a soloist in these aforementioned orchestras. He develops tours with the Alma Única project (chamber music and dance) and popular music performances.
