K-Classic News 탁계석 평론가 | 식상한 트로트 잠재울 묘책이 필요하다 예술의전당이 기획한 대학가곡축제를 보았다(9월 16일). ‘재미와 감동이 가득한 가곡 드라마’란 서브타이틀이 붙었다. 클래식 장르 중에서 한 때 상종가를 쳤던 가곡시대가 지난 것은 분명하다. 방송사가 나팔을 불면서 전국에서 가곡 공연을 펼쳤던 엄정행, 박인수시대가 지나면서 시들해 진것이다. 이후 동네방네 동호인 가곡이 붐을 이루고, 여기서 성악가들이 좀은 자존심을 꺾어가며 기대는 모습이 불편했던 것도 사실이다. 풍전등화의 위기에서 가곡은 고작 연명하는 수준이었다. 이러다 시조(時調)나 정가(正歌)되는 것 아닌가하는 음악사적 관점도 생겨났다. 트로트 역시 시장 한계성을 극복하기 위해 업그레이드 경연대회를 요란하게 펼쳤다. 잇속에 너무나 밝은 방송국 사업부가 너나없이 트롯트 경연을 열어 채널만 돌리면 나와 식상한 사람들의 눈살을 찌푸리게 했다. 스타들이 나왔고 몇몇은 빌딩(?)사는 수준의 광고 수주한다고 하니, 방송의 열풍을 타지 않고서 국민지지를 받기 어려운 것은 어제, 오늘의 일이 아니다. 여기서 성악가의 본령(本領)은 힘이 빠졌지만 오페라에선 기(氣)가 살아났다. 메트를 옮겨
