에릭 슈에(ERIC HSUEH)의 <Inkform Series: Flowing Metallic Ink>는 하나의 근본적인 질문어 출발한다. 금속이 잉크처럼 흐를 수 있다면 무엇이 가능할까? 작가는 전통적으로 단단하고 고정된 물질로 인식되어 온 금속을, 확산과 여백, 그리고 호흡이라는 잉크의 속성을 지닌 매체로 전환시킴으로써 조각의 물질적 언어를 확장한다.

이 작업에서 금속의 절단면은 붓 끝처럼 날카롭게 다듬어지고, 층을 이루는 구조는 잉크가 지닌 농담의 깊이와 밀도를 환기한다. 비어 있는 공간은 단순한 결여가 아니라 리듬감 있는 쉼으로 기능하며, 형태들 사이에 긴장과 균형을 만들어낸다. 구상과 서사를 의도적으로 배제함으로써, 슈에는 금속을 더 이상 무게의 상징이 아닌, 유동적 움직임의 언어로 제시한다.

ERIC HSUEH's Inkform Series: Flowing Metallic Ink begins with a fundamental question: What would be possible if metal could flow like ink? The artist transforms metal-traditionally perceived as rigid and fixed-into a medium that embodies the qualities of ink: diffusion, negative space, and breath, thereby expanding the material language of sculpture.

In this work, the cut surfaces of metal are sharpened like brush tips, while the layered structures evoke the tonal depth and density of ink. Empty spaces function not as mere absence but as rhythmic pauses, creating tension and balance between forms. By deliberately excluding figuration and narrative, HSUEH presents metal no longer as a symbol of weight, but as a 2/3 language of fluid movement
